Synopsis

In the third season of “My Brilliant Friend,” titled “Those Who Leave, Those Who Stay,” the story revolves around the intricate relationships of Elena Greco and Lila Cerullo, two lifelong friends. Set in the ’70s and ’80s, the plot follows the personal and professional developments of the protagonists.

Elena has published her second book and faces the challenges of motherhood as her marriage to Pietro becomes increasingly distant. The encounter with Nino Sarratore, an old friend, rekindles passion in Elena’s life, bringing tensions and changes to her family.

On the other hand, Lila dedicates herself to work and her aspirations, accepting a job offer from Michele Solara. Her relationship with Enzo is put to the test, and the complex dynamics of the Neapolitan neighborhood become increasingly evident.

The season explores themes such as the feminist struggle, political and social conflicts, and the desire for emancipation. As the two protagonists seek to define their identities and pursue their dreams, they are confronted with difficult choices and must reckon with the past.
